Even though I have already discussed Looper in my first trailer analysis, it is the main inspiration for my trailer, so a lot of the elements in it I shall be using for my trailer, including have the protagonist do the voice-over the explain the diegesis.
For this teaser trailer for the film 'Rise of the Guardians', it is the character of Santa Claus who introduces all of the characters of the film (The Guardians) and explains their powers and their purpose in the film. It then introduces the main antagonist of the film and his intentions, which then creates the narrative and story, all through Santa (and partly the antagonist) narrating.
For this one, the voice-over is similar to mine, using actual dialgoue from the film and editing it in the style so it comes across as a voice-over. However this voice-over is different from the others, because it doesn't introduce a story exactly, nor the motivation. The reason for this being is that it is a sequel, the 4th installment of the 'Iron Man' franchise (Including 'The Avengers'); so people will already know the characters, so instead it focuses on how the events in the previous film has effected our protagonist and how they've changed. However halfway through the trailer, the voice-over changes to the antagonist The Mandarin, and even though he is a new character to the franchise we don't learn his motives or the actual story for the film, but that's because that's not important in this case, what is important is that the villain comes across as evil & threatening, because that's all thats what the audience wants to see.
This one is a good example as it uses the voice-over in the same style, it starts out as a voice-over in order to give exposition, however it soon shows the character talking near the end of their dialogue. The same that will be done for most of the voice-overs in my trailer; starts off as exposition to show the change in plot over the film, but then show the scene where the dialogue is taking place.
These are all the trailers that I shall talk about, however if it is not enough then here are several more examples of film trailers that use this technique of the having the characters do the voice-over, whether it be diegetic or not.
